SEO Tips for 2023 with Barry Schwartz, president and owner of RustyBrick Inc.
Recently there have been so many algorithm updates and changes in the last month, and it's essential to figure out what Google is trying to tell us with these updates.
All the updates communicate in a way to build website content for users. There's so much competition online, Google is much more selective, creating algorithms that rank content that is creating the best experience for searchers. It's no longer about specific tactics, it's about making the content package right.
Now, SEOs need to focus on consolidating content and rewriting old pieces. We want to focus on creating the best version of content possible, which takes more time, effort, and sophistication. But this is the direction Google is going: better quality in content, resulting in less quantity.
Barry also covers some of his recent posts . . .
1. Google says link wheels are against Google's guidelines.
2. Google says max image preview tags increase the click-through rate.
3. Old page speed algorithms are no longer used... instead they use the page experience update
4. Whether we are seeing more of a shift to page-level reviews or not.
5. Zero clicks are very query dependent.
6. Google replaced Google Webmaster Guidelines with Google Search Essentials.
7. Google local pack in web search shows up less often.
Finally, the pair discuss SEO in 2023. Barry suggests putting efforts into making the best content to beat your competitors. In terms of specific, actionable strategies, he suggests including multimedia in your content for visual searches, optimizing for ecommerce with structured data when possible, and including product reviews. Anything that came out as news in this past year is a change that Google is taking seriously.
