How long does it take to learn SEO? Welcome to cases SEO. This is a very good question, and to be honest, I don't know. So I have been working with SEO for about the past ten years, and it seems like the the more sites that you work with, the more you realize you don't know that much about SEO. So you do have your basics that you need to learn, which you have on page SEO, off page SEO link building, web design, hosting, how to write copy, click through rates.
There's a lot of key components that go into SEO. And to be effective, you need to know every single one of these aspects, especially when it goes into website audits. Once you run a website audit, you have to know what each component means in that audit and how to fix it. And you have to know how to dissect each one of those pieces. It's going to show you your on page SEO, what backlinks you have, what errors you have if there's Https errors, there's just lots of different things going on.
And if you don't know all these components, it's going to be hard for you to evaluate that audit and figure out what you need to do in order to improve that website. Now you can learn the basics kind of right away. First I would start with your on page SEO, figure out all those key components, and then kind of go from there. But I also recommend is if you want to get into SEO, learn how to create a website. I suggest WordPress.
To me it's one of the easier CMS to work with. And then you can start to play around with your SEO on your website. And I also suggest that when you create a website is that you learn how to actually go into AC panel and create a website from the back end. And the reason I want you guys to do this is when you are working with clients, you're going to have issues and it's always a good idea to know what is going on in the back end just in case you need to make any simple changes. But if you're not too familiar with it, then you should generally pass that work on to your It team or their It team.
One way you can speed up the process of learning SEO is to hop online, watch YouTube videos. There's lots of different websites out there that provide great information and just read those over and over and over, and then go to your own website, make those changes and see what happens. Practice every day if you can. Over time, you will get a better understanding of how SEO works. If you make a change over here, what happens over here, and just continue the process, then if you are still interested in SEO, try to find an internship or a basic job at an agency or a company that can speed up your SEO skills and just learn, but there's really no answer to how long it will take for you to learn SEO.
It could take a year just to get the basics, or it could take you ten years to get a good understanding.
